The Bourne Ultimatum

30 08 2007

Just got back from the cinema, watched The Bourne Ultimatum.

It was awesome, surprisingly the cinema was pretty quiet which I thought was unusual because the film was only released today. I wonder how many must have thought it would be busy because it was only released today. Of course its been widely publicised that cinema attendances are on the decline, I guess my experience just confirms that. DVD’s are cheaper than ever, the release cycles are more frequent and shorter and of course there’s the whole piracy issue.

From the start til the very end there’s nothing but action and of course its pretty much what you’ve come to expect from these series of films in terms of the choreography. One thing that did strike me though is the amount of product placement Read the rest of this entry »

The weather (not your usual sunny days)

25 08 2007

So obviously I always tell people back home how awesome the weather is here, and normally it is…

This week has been radically different. I have never seen so much rain since leaving the UK, certain parts of Queensland are being evacuated as there is extensive flash flooding. Read the rest of this entry »

Blogging

24 08 2007

OK so I know what you’re thinking;

  • What the hell is this all about?
  • Why is he doing this?
  • What is that smell?

Alright so maybe I can’t answer the last question, but I can tackle the first two. I have been in Australia now for 14 months and experienced many different things, taken lots of photos and have lots of stories. However I have a constant nagging in the back of my mind that there are some experiences which are just not recorded or conveyed back home as I’d like.

Some of you I speak to personally over the web-cam, some I occasionally e-mail and whilst these resources are great I required something “more” to supplement these activities.

This is where blogging can help.

Blogging is something which will complement the above and not only be rewarding for me but also communicate some of the things I get up to here, which I may forget to write in an e-mail or talk about over the web-cam.

What is a blog?

Well to answer that question I suggest you read this (and for a more definitive answer check out wikipedia’s entry). Wikipedia by the way is an awesome resource, I can spend hours on there looking random stuff up, but I’m sure I will talk more about that at another time. Let’s not go off topic.

 What can you expect?

Lots Scratch that, heaps (because that is after all what an Australian would say). At the moment I plan to add entries about twice a week about all sorts of things, so keep watching.

Here’s a cool thing, blogs are extremely powerful when used properly and as such you won’t even need to visit the site to know that I’ve added an entry. The technology I refer to is called RSS, but I’ll save that for another time because I know your brain is probably hurting a bit by now…..

Hooray

19 08 2007

Hooray! At last the site is launched, although now I need I to add some content.

Alright so I agree it does look pretty bland at the moment, but give me a chance, only so many hours in the day. OK, I’ll keep working you keep reading.
